In Love., March 21, 2012 This review is from: Retrospec Fixie Beta Series Betty Davis Fixed Gear Single Speed Urban Road Bike (Pink/Blue) (Sports) I love my Retrospec. I hadn't had a bike in a while and decided on a fixie for the short rides between my apartment, office, and school (the ground is mostly flat, and I was looking to get in at least a bit of a workout). I've had this bike for a couple of months now, and while getting used to a fixed gear bike was a bit of a challenge, I'm seriously glad I did.
This bike is silent- none of that squeakiness or chain-rattling inherent to many bikes after a while. It's easy to control at any speed. Another pro: it's sturdy, but lightweight- I can carry it up a flight of stairs with little to no trouble. The bike also has hand brakes, which is great for people who aren't used to fixies- I've been learning to control the speed with my legs, but it takes some getting used to, so the hand brakes are a huge help (and safer for short stops).
